Traveling to CES – small coverage and XS event coverage soon!

January 8th, 2010

Traveling by air out of Des Moines,Ia poses some problems in January – namely the deicing that needed to be done and took us 20 extra minutes to get off the ground…  I am posting this from Memphis Intl. airport waiting for out pilots to get here to fly us, of course they are delayed.  Today I will get in and meet up with skinnee from XS and various other sites around the web including his own site  skinneelabs.com .   So expect some great stuff this weekend from me and the site, and I can tell you that in a week I am headed to Taipei, Taiwan so expect some great updates from there as well!

A great picture I got in the plane during sunrise

W3570 preliminary tests

November 8th, 2009

!!!PRETEST!!! so much room for improving

Thanks to MSI, TiTON for helping with the pot and Charles, and Gomeler

12 Hours straight benching / 35bs of Dry Ice for $10 USD / OSs were crap – need to get better ones sert up / thsi is new Platinum SLI from Newegg open box because I killed my other one – 2 GB board inbound later today!

not pushing too hard and wasted a lot of time on OSs – this was a last resort that worked out well for unoptimized and generic load-out adn I suck at 32m super pi I know !!!!

Pretty Good For a Lower end Board eh? and please I know voltage is high – rough tuning no time for fine tuning – lol no time in 12 hours

Still!!! I had to use 1.51 CPU-Z instead of 1.52 damn thing sucks with this setup

Setup -
W3570 3847A987
MSI X58 Platinum SLI – New one
MSI N260GTX-OCv3
MSI GTX 275 Lightning
PNY 8800GTS 320MB
7900GS SLI (OEM)
Silverstone Zeus 1200W PSU
WD 80GB IDE HDDs
a lot of OSs
K|ngp|n F1EE w/ Acetone
Muskin Elpida BBSE
Lots of Scythe High CFM Fans

BTW – these were on a full SP3 XP Pro install not oiptimized at all

Quest for the best bench RAM kit – project scrubbed… and an update

August 11th, 2009

Due to unforeseen personal life problems, I have to scub the project and am now thinking when I do I may try with Elpida BBSE as they seem to be great still and much harder to kill  …  I  have been trying to sort out thing  personally so when I get more time to do a write up I will be benching MSI X-58 Platinum SLI and the  GTX260 OCV3 that I have for testing on hand, as well as a DFI teh8 that I was given and a recently acquired W3540!  I will hopefully be up and running full within a few days (i hope )

Quest for the best bench RAM kit – the start

July 30th, 2009

So today I finally made good on all my talk of finding a source for oem ELPIDA MNH-E HYPER DDR3 2GB modules… After calling all my contacts at various stores and distributors  I finally scored with a contact I made today.  I am able to get a large amount of 2GB modules for my binning project, which will start next week .  So my quest now will be to get at least 12 modules and bin the  hell out of them and see how well they will do.  I will be updating with my results as  think people will be interested hopefully in this project.   I hope to get out of this a set of 1075MHZ Cas 7 triple channel  at least – we will see…
